Velour is a production-focused music studio. Its rooms are, of course, suitable for general music tracking and mixing. More interestingly, the facility is carefully tailored to meet the requirements of a certain production aesthetic, without compromise to that end.

The organizing objective in the design and operation of Velour is to make important records. The studio is calculated to support the production of records without regard to price-point and without unreasonable time constraints. The number of projects undertaken at Velour is limited, as each project is afforded the time and care required to fully realize the recording before delivery for mastering.

Intrinsic to its purpose, Velour is, by design, within the reach of the independent band or musician. Where there is label support, working with Velour will reduce production costs and, accordingly, reduce the recoupable label advance, making the project more attractive to the label and more profitable for the artist. The heart of the matter is, Velour is committed to make recordings without compromise, for a fraction of what a public commercial facility would require.

All projects undertaken are produced by Velour. While aesthetic and financial considerations generally recommend full production at Velour, tracking in an outside facility is easily accommodated if tracking requirements exceed the studio's capacity, or if geography makes tracking at Velour impractical.
